99碩士論文:基於人際溝通互動元素開發遠端臨場機器人-TRiCmini

  高齡化社會的來臨,使得高齡者的照護問題越來越受到重視。高齡者面對的風險,並非全然是身體健康的問題,心理的問題-孤立也是值得我們重視的。照護的本質更應著重於對人的關懷,高齡者期待的是和遠方子女、親人的聯繫、互動與即時的生活心情分享,所以本研究將利用遠端臨場(telepresence)技術,開發能夠應用於人際互動、溝通,適用於居家環境的服務型機器人-TRiCmini (mini Telepresence Robot for Interpersonal Communication)。TRiCmini主要應用情境設定是遠方子女和父母的溝通互動—子女只需將TRiCmini擺放在父母家中,即可透過網際網路操控TRiCmini,彷彿附身在TRiCmini上,不僅能自由走動以查看居家環境,更可以走到父母身旁與之噓寒問暖。TRiCmini具有語言溝通與非語言溝通的能力,讓子女可對父母表達更深切的關懷,藉由TRiCmini所達成的溝通互動,高齡者可感覺到子女就如陪伴在身旁一般,充分獲得心靈層面的慰藉,促進心理與社會關係的健康。
  TRiCmini由通訊、情緒、移動、影音、電源、近端使用者介面與遠端使用者介面等7項模組構成,擁有影音通訊、情緒展現、全向移動、障礙物閃避與跟隨等功能。TRiCmini可透過攝影機與麥克風,提供雙向聲音與單向影像之傳輸;也可利用不同的表情與肢體動作,將遠端使用者(子女、照護者)的情緒傳達給近端的使用者(高齡者),豐富兩者的互動。此外,遠端使用者可操作TRiCmini在近端環境中自由移動以查看環境與高齡者個人狀況,並配合障礙物閃避與跟隨功能,簡化遠端操作並增加近端互動,也提供了附加的娛樂效果。
  最後,本研究將針對使用者進行TRiCmini的可用性(usability)評估,一方面藉以驗證設計概念是否落實,另一方面也可針對缺失持續改良,使其更趨完善,有效地提昇獨居高齡者的生活品質。

The Development of a Telepresence Robot based on the Elements of Interpersonal Communication

  The aged society is on the corner.It makes caring issues very important and more serious.The risks which elderly people have to face are not only from their physical condition, but also in their mental healthy. Isolation is one of the problems we need to pay attention and to solve. As we know, the essence of caring is base upon our concerns to people. Therefore, the research takes telepresence skills to develop TRiCmini (mini telepresence robot for interpersonal communication) that can communicate and interact with people. The goal for designing TRiCmini is to meet the expectations of elderly people; they want to connect with their children even they are far away, and they want to share their lives and feelings with their relatives even when they are apart.
  TRiCmini can be used in many ways, however, it’s very powerful to connect parents and children when they are separate with each other. Children can leave TRiCmini to their parents, log on to internet, press buttons, then they can simply ask TRiCmini to check environments, to talk to their parents, and interact with them, just like the children are “possessed” of TRiCmini. TRiCmini has verbal communication and nonverbal communication to make children’s concerns more touched. In this, TRiCmini can provide good communication and nice interaction. It will make elderly people feel comfortable and valuable, which will improve their mental healthy and their social lives stable. There are seven modules of TRiCmini; communication, emotion, movement, audiovisual, power, and interfaces both for local and remote users. Thus, the functions of TRiCmini are audiovisual communication, emotion display, omni-directional movement, obstacle avoidance and follow-up.
  Through microphone and camera, TRiCmini provides two-way audio transmission and one-way visual transmission. To enrich interactions, TRiCmini also can pass emotions of remote users to local users by facial expressions and body movements.
